3 Ways to Make 2013 a Banner Ministry Year
Happy New Year!
I know, I know . . . It’s January 8, but still I hope that you’ve had a great Christmas and New Year holiday and are energized for the year ahead.
There’s something special about this time of year. The opportunity to start fresh. To stand at the beginning of the year and look ahead.
Let me ask . . . when you look at the year ahead, what do you see?
- Do you see the excitement of your team growing and becoming more like Christ?
- Do you see yourself leading more effectively, and more attuned to God’s best plans for you and your church?
- Do you see the people in your church engaging God at a deeper level in you worship services?
- Do you see new leaders helping you carry the leadership mantle and freeing you to invest in the most important areas of your team?
- Do you see the number of volunteers on your team DOUBLING in the next year?
- Do you see yourself reading and learning more than ever before?
- Meeting and learning from other Worship Leaders who have been where you are?
These are things that ALL of us want to see in the New Year… and many of us will, IF we allow God to work in us in new ways.
You see – I’ve found time and again that God does something new in me before he does something new in our worship ministry. I bet you have experienced that too.
About the time that I take a BIG LEAP forward (whether it is spiritually, as a leader, worshipper, communicator, etc.) ONLY THEN is our team ready to do the same.
It really is true – as goes the leader, so goes the team! But it works both ways.
If you don’t challenge yourself, don’t develop your plan for personal growth in 2013, don’t learn some new ideas, don’t read some new books, don’t implement some new strategies, and don’t take some new risks for the Kingdom, then . . . well . . . your team won’t either and you will likely relive 2012’s most challenging moments all over again.
So I want to invite you to make 2013 a banner year for you and your ministry… to take a BIG leap forward in your leadership and personal growth. To write a new chapter regardless of whether you’ve been in ministry 30 days or 30 years.

#1 – Set NEW goals for your Spriitual Growth, Personal Life and Ministry in 2013. Next week we’ll dig deeper into this topic, but for now, simply ask… “God – what would you like for me to become in these areas over the next year?”
#2 – Create a Written Plan for your Growth in 2013. What is going to be your reading plan in the New Year? What other worship leaders are you going to invest time in learning from? What is your plan for keeping a healthy harmony between your ministry life and family life? Trust me… without a plan, you won’t grow in any of these areas the way you want to this year.
